VADODARA, April 4: The Ankleshwar project of ONGC bagged the National Safety Award (mines) for 1995 and 1996 for the longest accident-free period. The award is instituted by Director General of Mines Safety, Government of India. Vice-president of India, Krishna Kant, presented the award on March 31 at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi.Col (retd) K B Vohra, Group General Manager (projects) Ankleshwar and A M Patel, Chargeman (elect) received the award for the year 1996, while the award for 1995 was received by K R Singh, General Manager (production) and B N Chavda, Assistant GD-I.
Development project: The Rural Development Project initiated by ONGC Western Region with the Centre for Continuing Adult Education and Community Services and the Department of Home Science, M S University for the upliftment of the health and standard of living of the people living in and around the areas of its operations, was successfully completed on March 31. The project included training programme on nutrition and health awareness and mid-wife training among the women living in and around Dabka village.
At a function organised to mark the completion of the training, certificates were distributed to women who had successfully completed the training programme. Later, a visit to the kitchen garden developed by the women was also organised, besides an exhibition displaying the various teaching aids and learning material. The project, aimed at imparting theoretical as well as practical knowledge, trained about 25 mid-wives practicing in Dabka.
Visit: ONGC's Director (Finance), I N Chatterjee visited Regional Office, Vadodara on March 31. Besides holding a series of meetings with senior finance and accounts officials, he also addressed employees at Officers' Club. He highlighted the various units of finance which are being upgraded such as internal audit, financial systems. Speaking on Organisation Transformation Project (OTP), he stressed the need for accountability and responsibility of every employee towards the organisation. While referring to the new reserve accretion in the organisation, he suggested that more and more employees should come forward with innovative ideas. He also addressed employees of Ahmedabad and Mehsana Project.
