DCB PI, SI provided security
Detection of Crime Branch police inspector M G Kaneria and sub inspector R H Hadia have been provided armed escorts following threat to their lives. The duo had shot dead dreaded criminal Farookh Munshi when he reportedly fired at them last month. An anonymous letter received by the police commissioner said the two would be killed for their action. Four armed personnel each would escort them round-the-clock.

Easter celebrated
Hundreds of Christians celebrated the Easter Sunday to mark the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Pastor Cecil David of the Church of North India administered Holy Communion at the Muglisara Church. Rev Joshua from Garhwal, who gave lectures during the Passion Week, spread the message of brotherhood and amity. The festival was also celebrated at Chowk Bazaar's Christ Church, Nanpura's Catholic Church and Seventh Day Adventist Church in Athwalines.

By-poll directive
District Collector and Returning Officer Sangeeta Singh has asked candidates contesting the by-elections for Ward No 31 of Surat Municipal Corporation and Ward No 5 of Songadh Nagar Panchayat to submit expenditure incurred on electioneering within 30 days of the announcement of results. While the expenditure limit for the Surat by-election is Rs 30,000, for Songadh election it is Rs 7500. The candidates have been asked to maintain expenditure details from the day they filed their nominations.

Invited to meet
Vadodara: Psychiatrist Dr Sandeep Shah has been invited to present his research papers on schizophrenia at the International Conference on Schizophrenia to be held at Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA which will be attended by 1500 psychiatrists from all over the world.
