Vehicle thefts
A Hero Honda motorcycle (GJ 5 AD 1313) was stolen from the Athwa Lines area of the city, a case registered on Sunday morning said. Sunil Agarwal, the owner of the vehicle, told the police on Sunday morning that he had parked the motorcycle in the parking space of Abhijaat Apartments, where he resided but found it missing later. A bicycle (frame no 2647) was also reported stolen from the Varachha police station area. Dinesh Gajjar, a resident of Janatanagar Apartment and owner of the Atlas cycle, told the police that he had parked the cycle in the basement of his house, but found it missing on Sunday morning. Cases under IPC 379 have been registered at the respective police stations.

Phone stolen
Two unidentified persons, posing as beggars, stole a cellular phone from a person's house on Saturday afternoon, the Varachha police said. Ashokkumar Vaghani, a resident of Kohinoor Society, in Varachha, told the police that the accused came over to his house seeking alms. But after Vaghani returned with the alms, he found the cellular phone worth Rs 30,000 missing from the table and the two persons absconding. A case has been registered by the police under IPC 379.

Thief caught
One Vijay Reshamwala, a resident of Ambawadi area of the city lodged a complaint in the Varachha police station against one Prafful Patel, a resident of Saiyyedpura, stating that Patel had stolen his footwear while he was praying in a temple. Reshamwala told the police that he was praying at the Lambe Hanuman temple at 7 pm on Saturday evening, when Patel took his slippers worth Rs 125 and was caught as he tried to escape. Patel has reportedly confessed his crime to the police, who have registered a case.

Case registered
A case was registered against one Kantibhai Rachjibhai Harijan, a resident of Fatehpura Hathikhana Harijanwas, in the City Police Station, on Saturday. According to the police, the accused tried to commit suicide by consuming anti-malaria pills but was soon rushed to SSG Hospital by his relatives and family members, the police added. The death of his wife and child two months back is said to be reason behind the extreme step.
