Bedi to take charge today

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE  
CHANDIGARH, April 4: The UT-cadre IPS officer, Kiran Bedi, will take charge as the new UT Inspector General of Police tomorrow. Bedi arrived in the city today by the evening Shatabdi Express.

The 1972-batch officer will replace 1975-batch UT cadre IPS officer R.P. Singh. Singh is leaving for New Delhi tomorrow, after which his new posting will be known, said police sources. R.P. Singh had joined here in December 1995.

Bedi, who was previously Joint Commissioner of Police (Training), will be the ninth UT IGP.
