MUMBAI, APRIL 4: Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray today said that if the Congress toppled the Vajpayee-led coalition Government in the Centre, there would be anarchy in the country.Thackeray was addressing a function to felicitate Dalit shahirs at Y B Chavan Centre organised by the Akhil Bharatiya Bhimshahir Parishad, an organisation working for upliftment of Dalit folk artists. ``In 1980, I had predicted that Indira Gandhi will be assassinated and it so happened in 1984. While addressing a rally at Shivaji Park, I had predicted that Rajiv Gandhi will be killed by the Tamil Tigers and it happened. Today I say that if the Congress assumes power in Centre by toppling the Vajpayee Government, it will not last any longer. There will be anarchy in the country for sometime and soon, we will come back to power with full strength,'' Thackeray said.
He, however, condemned the Bharatiya Janta Party at the State level.``We (the Sena) have been forced to adjust with the BJP in Maharashtra as there is no alternative. But one has to continue living with his wife even if she fails to conceive for years. One cannot abandon her and similarly, we can not abandon the BJP here,'' said Thackeray.
The Sena chief launched a frontal attack on Sonia Gandhi for supporting the Rabri Devi Government despite repeated Dalit massacres in Bihar. ``When three Christians were burnt alive in Orissa, the Christian Sonia Gandhi immediately replaced the Orissa Chief Minister. When 11 Dalits were shot dead here at Ramabai Nagar in Mumbai, it was demanded that the Sena-BJP Government be dismissed. But when hundreds of Dalits are being killed by Ranvir Sena in Bihar, Sonia Gandhi and the Congress are supporting the Rabri Devi Government. It seems the Congress does not have any concern for Dalits in the country,'' added Thackeray. Earlier, he accused the State Congress of backing the incident wherein Dalit leader Bhai Sangare received severe burn injuries and subsequently died, while setting fire to a copy of the Manusmruti at Mahad in Raigaddistrict. He added that the Congress was responsible for the pelting of stones on the famous Siddhi Vinayak temple at Prabhadevi, while Sangare's dead body was being carried for cremation. He appealed to Dalits not to burn copies of the Manusmruti and asked them to try instead to change the thoughts scripted by the book. He requested the Dalit population to vote for the Sena-BJP alliance during the coming State Assembly elections. Dalit activist Texas Gaikwad and Sena leader Uddhav Thackeray also spoke on the occasion. A total of 12 Dalit shahirs were felicitated at by Bal Thackeray for their contribution to the field of music and singing.
