Sec 36 resident commits suicide
A woman, residing in Sector 36, reportedly committed suicide at her residence last night. The police have arrested her husband Parveen Bhatia and his brother Naveen Bhatia, after the deceased's father complained that they used to harass her for bringing in less dowry. Deceased Nitu Tanwar was a housewife and was found hanging from a fan, the police said. Parveen, is an insurance agent with a private firm here. He was not at home at the time of the incident, added the police sources.One killed, 3 hurt
One person was killed and three injured when a scooter reportedly hit a rickshaw and it overturned. The accident occurred in Sector 45 late last night. Laxmi Devi, her son, and his pregnant wife - all Burail residents -- were going to the Sector 16 General Hospital in the rickshaw when they were hit by the scooter. Laxmi, in her late 50s, succumbed to her injuries in the hospital. Scooterist Harjit Singh too has been injured and hospitalised. The police have registered a case.
Rs 25,000 robbed
Sunil Kumar, a resident of Sector 47, has reported to the police that his servant Anil Bahadur has decamped with Rs 25,000 from his booth in Sector 31. He allegedly stole the money from the safe in the shop. The police have registered a case.
Woman dead
Sector 27 resident Nirmala, in her 40s, died at the PGI today after she consumed acid by mistake at her home last night. Nirmala's husband is working in a school laboratory.
Three arrested
The city police have arrested three persons of Sector 25 while they were allegedly trying to steal cable amplifiers from Sector 41 last night. The arrested include Sunil, Rakesh and Rajpal.
