The compensation amount, Rs 15 lakh, is still lying in Deutsch Bank. Former Police Commissioner Ved Marwah is also uninformed about any further developments. According to him, the family contacted him last about a month ago. The Nanda family was required to help Marwah with details about the victims' families.

``They intimated me about the committee during the first week of February. After that there was a letter that told me about the family's efforts to procure information about the victims. After that there was no communication from them,'' Marwah told Express Newsline. He is also unaware if anybody else is a part of the committee. He expresses his helplessness regarding the delay. ``If the distributors are not showing any interest, who am I to proceed?'' he asks.

Defence counsel Ramesh Gupta, however, blames the prosecution for the delay. Talking to Express Newsline, Gupta said: ``We had requested the judge to direct the prosecution to assist us to distribute the funds. But the judge merely asked them to file a reply.''

The prosecution has reportedly taken more time to file the reply.``The magistrate concerned has given them more time due to which the process is being delayed,'' Gupta said.

But special prosecutor I.U. Khan feels that if the Nanda family is interested in a cause, they should not expect the prosecution to assist them. He said: ``We have tried our best. It is impossible for the police to go and look for the victims' families.'' He clarifies that the money will not soften the prosecution's stand. ``And if they are interested in charity, why should we object and accuse them of buying the witnesses?'' he asks.
