LUDHIANA, April 7: The inaugural National Circle Style kabaddi tournament is being organised by Punjab Kabaddi Association at Sahnewal from May 2 to 4. This was announced by PKA president Balbir Singh in a news conference here today. He said boys and girls teams from over 20 states will take part in the tournament.The PKA had also been entrusted with the responsibility of organising the international kabaddi tournament at Anandpur Sahib from April 10 to 13 during tercentenary celebrations. Besides, kabaddi teams from Pakistan, America, Canada, two teams from England, two from Punjab and one from Haryana would participate.
The winner of the tourney will receive a handsome cash award of one lakh followed by Rs 75,000, Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000 for second, third and fourth spots. Singh, who is also senior vice president of Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India disclosed that the AKFI had granted recognition to circle style kabaddi and a special wing for its promotion had been created which would be headed by Balbir Singh.
