TIRUCHIRAPPALLI: The total power generation in the country from all sources by the year 2020 is expected to be 3,00,000 MW, according to Placid Rodriguez, director, Centre for Atomic Research, Kalpakkam. Power generation from nuclear projects alone would touch 20,000 mw by 2020, he told reporters here today. He said the work on the Rs 2,700 crore 500 mw indigenous prototype fast breeder nuclear reactor would commence within a couple of years at Kalpakkam.

Tata-Jardine

The Tata group and Jardine Company of Hong Kong are planning to infuse additional equity into their Telco car retailing joint venture, Concorde Motors Limited, for expanding presence across the country. The fresh infusion would be done equally by both the partners and would not result in any alteration to the equity distribution within Concorde, Concorde Motors said in an application filed with the FIPB. The exact amount of equity being enhanced was not known.

Oman delegation

A ten-memberhigh-powered delegation from Oman arrived here on a three-day visit as a follow-up of signing of an agreement in 1998 for import of 1.6 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas.
