Odissi from the maestro's daughter

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CHANDIGARH, April 11: The 34th monthly `baithak' at Pracheen Kala Kendra had a rare feature, for the enthusiasts got to see the `shishya' and daughter of one of the stalwarts in Odissi realm, Harekrishna Behera. And Kavita Dwibedi proved true to expectations as the audience sat glued to her well-composed body movements and expressions.

If her `pallavi' was a visual treat taking one through the sculptures of Konark, her `ashtapadi' felt like the delineation of one's inner self as she became the yearning of both the body and the spirit. The pulchritude and the ethereal quality of Odissi was amply brought out by Kavita. She was accompanied by Prafulla Kumar Mangaraj on Pakhawaj, Raj Kishore Dalbehera on Flute and Prashanta Kumar Behera provided the evocative vocal support.
