Mobikes drive 4 to death

PUNE, April 11: A foreign national Kurt Clock (35), a resident of Koregaon Park, was among four persons killed in separate road mishaps in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad last night.

Clock, a visiting executive of Krupp Industries, was returning home at 60/4 Koregaon Park on his motorcycle around 2.30 a.m. The vehicle skidded on the road opposite Pingale Garden Scheme due to which Clock sustained grievous injuries. He was taken to a private hospital but the doctors pronounced him dead even before any treatment could be provided.

Police could not confirm his nationality immediately as Israeli currency was found in his purse. He also had an old card of the Osho Commune International.

Clock was staying alone in Pune for the past three months. The company staff contacted his family in Germany and informed them about the mishap. The body was likely to be sent to Germany.

In another mishap involving two-wheelers at Pimpri, two persons going on a scooter were killed when they were hit by a speeding motorcycle. The deceased, identified as Mahadev Basappa Ganacharya (37) and Shashidhar Sudhakar Bansode (25), were proceeding towards MHADA complex near Ajmera society when they were hit by the motorcycle. A 26-year-old youth Abdul Hafiz Abdul Samaj Choudhary (26), a resident of Morwadi was riding the motorcycle. The mishap took place at 10.45 pm. Choudhary and the pillion rider were also injured in the mishap.

A 30-year old youth was killed while another youth Vinod Vishwanath Choudhary (25) was injured when their motorcycle was hit by a speeding truck on the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Road opposite Oswal Hall in the Khadak police station limits. The mishap occurred at 11 p.m. The deceased hailing from Gorakhpur Uttar Pradesh were proceeding towards Apsara theatre.
