Workshops at Telbaila

Shakti Yogashrama, a cultural educational trust, has lined up a series of camps in the summer comprising appreciation sessions on the classical arts and sciences (Yoga, Ayurveda and healing techniques). Three weekend camps are scheduled from April 30 to May 2, June 4 to June 6, and July 2 to July 4 at the Ashrama, situated at Telbaila village, in the hills of Mulshi taluka, off Lonavala.

Three more camps are being organised in May. The first, between April 30 and May 5 is a football camp for boys between 10 and 15 years. Training in football and fitness programmes, besides modules on yoga, meditation, and chanting have been incorporated.

The second camp is for students between 10-15 years, comprising modules on Indian classical dances, Indian folk dance, mime and rhythm, besides the sessions no yoga, meditation, chanting and story telling. The third is a camp between May 11 and 16, on Bharat Natyam, by Mandakini Trivedi. This camp is aimed at students of Indian dance.Contact Mandakini Trivedi on 6245000.

International conference

Intertech 2000, a conference on industrial diamonds, cubic boron nitride and diamond-Like carbon materials will be held from July 17 to 22, 2000 in Vancouver, Canada.

Billed as the largest international conference of its kind, Intertech 2000 will bring together technical and commercial experts to discuss issues relating to applications pertaining to aerospace, automotive, stone processing, mining or drilling, woodworking, construction, electronics, optics, medical and emerging technologies. Diamond tool manufacturers and users, the government, R & D and science and engineering institutions can participate in the function. For further information, contact the IDA on 8230145.

VMS invites admissions

Applications are invited for the admission of blind boys between 3 and 6 years of age at the Victoria Memorial School for this academic year. Educational and vocational guidance will be imparted by trained teachers in Marathiand English upto Std VII. Free lodging and boarding will also be provided. Workshop on managing stress

Workshops and awareness drives on better health & stress management through Pranayam and meditation are scheduled to be held from April 17 to 25 between 6 pm and 9.15 pm at Mahatma Gandhi Seva Mandir, opposite Bandra Lake, S V Road, Bandra (W). The drive has been organised by Yoga Vidya Samadhi Abhyasa Ashram.

Adventure course at Karjat

EGO Rock School, an organisation founded by rock climbers, has offered an adventure course from April 27 to 30 at Karjat. The course activities include rock climbing, rappelling, nature study, first aid and sky watching. Workshops for children

Bal Bhavan will organise talent and hobby workshops for children fromApril 16 to May 15. Workshops will be held in drawing, sculpting, handicrafts, drama, painting, karate, skating, photography, music and dance, sports and mehndi.
