Youths foil robbery

NEW DELHI, April 12: Two youths foiled a robbery bid on a businessman and overpowered one of the four robbers in the Govindpuri area of south Delhi last night.

The Police said that Rajpal Singhal, a general store owner, was closing his shop when four armed youths accosted him. Singhal immediately raised an alarm.

Anand Kumar and Vinod, who were standing a few shops away, responded immediately. They ran towards the robbers and overpowered one of them before he could open fire. His three accomplices, however, fled.

The youths then handed over their captive to the police. The robber has been identified as Subodh, 22. The police say he has been involved in seven cases of robbery, snatching, attempt to murder and illegal possession of arms.Anand Kumar and Vinod Kumar are being awarded for their bravery, the police added.
