Chandipur-on-sea: Nishant, an unmanned air vehicle, was successfully test-launched from the Interim Test Range (ITR) here on Tuesday, according to ITR sources. It is also known as pilot-less training aircraft (PTA). The PTA is designed to perform discreet aerial reconnaissance including target acquisition.

MiG crashes
New Delhi: An Indian Air Force MiG-21 plane crashed near Rania town of this district in Haryana shortly before noon today killing a woman and injuring four persons working in the field.

Pulitzer prize
New York: The Washington Post has won the Pulitzer for public service for its series on reckless gunplay by police officers while theNew York Times bagged two of the prizes. Delhi-based AP photographer John Mcconnicco got the award for spot news photography.

Jail for Kervokian
Pontiac:
Euthanasia advocate Dr Jack Kevorkian was sentenced on Tuesday to 10 to 25 years in prison for the videotaped death of a Lou Gehrig's disease patient. He could have been sentenced to life in prison for the murder charge.

India beat Pak
Sharjah:
India beat Pakistan by six wickets with 1.5 overs to spare in the final league tie of the Coca Cola Cup triangular cricket tournament here tonight. India finished at 204 for six wickets, thanks mainly to S Ramesh (82) and Rahul Dravid (81), in reply to Pakistan's 205-9 in 50 overs.
