Nagpur reels under heat wave

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NAGPUR, April 13: Nagpur is known for high temperatures in summer. But this year it's a bit different with hot winds blowing a little too early. It's just the thirteenth day of April and temperatures are touching nearly 45 degrees celsius.

The temperatures recorded during the first ten days of the month were three to five degrees above normal. On Sunday, the city recorded as high as 44.3 degrees celsius, which is five degrees higher than the normal temperature at this time of the season. Normally such sizzling temperatures are experienced in the city towards the end of April or during the month of May.

The bad news is that the temperatures are not expected to go down in the next few days. S Vishwanadham, director of the Regional Meteorological Centre told The Indian Express that high temperatures will continue for at least two to three days more.

The Met director termed the phenomenon as `slightly unusual'. He said the complete absence of rains and thunderstorm activities during Marchand first week of April has led to such high temperatures.
