The government school closes at 1 p.m. and was deserted. It was here that the youth allegedly assaulted and raped the girl. The profusely bleeding five-year-old was spotted stumbling on the road by police control room staff. She was rushed to the SDN Hospital, where she reportedly underwent surgery, the police said.

The five-year-old's mother also rushed to the hospital, but the child was reportedly too traumatised to speak with her initially. She later reportedly told her mother that the 16-year-old had attacked her. The girl's mother told the police that her daughter had complained about the youth on earlier occasions. The youth was later arrested from his Ashok Nagar house. The police said the girl's condition is now stable.
