MUMBAI, APRIL 13: Women's Football Federation of India (WFFI) has broken its links with the All India Football Federation (AIFF), with which it had merged as per an agreement thrashed out in December 1996, after accusing the latter of not fulfilling the conditions of the merger.WFFI secretary Krishna Singh told PTI here today that the AIFF, whose president Priya Ranjan Dasmunshi and secretary K N Mour are members of the nine-member AIFF women's football committee of which he was the secretary and convenor, did not implement any of the decisions taken at the committee meetings since the time of the merger.
``The merger was effected after a meeting between the officials of AIFF and WFFI at Delhi on December 14, 1996 as per the directive of FIFA and sports ministry. A nine-member committee called women's football wing of the AIFF was formed to look after the affairs of women's football,'' Krishna said.
``More than two years have passed but the women's wing has not been allowed to function till now. Werepeatedly requested the AIFF to respect the merger proposals and adhere to FIFA and sports ministry directive,'' Krishna Singh said.
``But the AIFF pursues its own agenda sidelining the women's wing while sending teams to the Asian Games in Bangkok and deciding on the National Games at Imphal, senior nationals at Calcutta etc,'' he charged.
``The WFFI had suspended its annual activities during 1997 and 1998 after the merger with the AIFF in order to wait and watch. Finally we (WFFI) have decided to continue our annual activities until the merger proposals for the women's wing in the AIFF are properly executed,'' he said.
Krishna Singh also said that the WFFI may also take the AIFF to court on the issue.
The calendar was also announced. the 22nd Senior Nationals would be held in October in Rajasthan, Federation Cup in MP in December, Junior Nationals (June) and Sub-Junior Nationals (December) in Bihar.
