Malik Sports triumph

NEW DELHI, April 13: Stroke-filled unbeaten century (100: 10x4, 4x6) and a spell of three for two by Azhar Firdausi helped Malik Sports beat Lion Kanishka by five wickets in a C division match of the DDCA league.

In another match, Indo Club outwitted City Gymkhana by seven wickets in the same division at Kotla. In an A-I division, Sonnet crushed Bright by 185 runs at Air Force Palam-I while in another match, Indian Air Force thrashed Punjab National Bank by 172 runs.

Brief scores: Lion Kanishka: 194 (Anil Kumar 40, Vijay Arya 32, Abuzer 25, Fakhruddin 3 for 37, Azhar Firdausi 3 for 2, Yousuf 2 for 38) lost to Malik Sports: 198 for 5 (Azhar Firdausi 100 not out, Rakesh Vadera 31, Gulrez 29, Vijay 2 for 31, Rajinder 2 for 26).
City Gymkhana: 202 for 8 (Venkat Sunderam 54, Safdar 54, S Krishnan 25, Rajiv 2 for 27) lost to Indo Club: 203 for 3 (Prahlad 57, Vikas 40, Virender Walia 36).
Sonnet: 286 for 9 (Suhail Sharma 63, Yash Pal Singh 50, Oneil Wilson 41, Rajeev Vohra 34, Devender Sharma 26, Arun Singh 24 not out, Surender Yadav 3 for 64, Tarun 2 for 30) bt Bright Club: 101 (Sambhav Sanon 36, Jasvinder Singh 3 for 33, Suhail Sharma 2 for 11, Vikrant Yadav 2 for 22).
