Charge-sheet filed against Sharma

UNITED NEWS OF INDIA
NEW DELHI, APRIL 16: The Delhi police on Thursday filed a charge-sheet against alleged underworld don Dawood Ibrahim's associate Romesh Sharma for conspiracy, extortion, robbery and intimidating a Mumbai-based architect.

The charge-sheet filed in the court of metropolitan magistrate J P Narayan, alleged that Sharma along with his three associates forcefully acquired property of Dinky Charles Mascarenhas, who is an architect at Vile Parle, Mumbai.

Mascarenhas had alleged that he was hired by Sharma in 1996 to design his Mayfair Garden bungalow in Delhi, for which Sharma got some papers, including a receipt of Rs 1,26,00,000 forcefully signed from him.

The architect also alleged that he received several threatening phone calls from Chota Shakeel, Dawood's supposed frontman, in 1998.

When Mascarenhas came to Delhi to sell his cars Romesh Sharma along with Arvind Bali, Vinod Luthra, Naresh Mishra, who are already in custody, and 30 other armed men again got some receipts signed from him and took away thecars, he alleged in the charge-sheet.

Narayan took cognisance on the charge-sheet and summoned the four accused to appear before the court on April 22.
