Central govt likely to pull through
The prospects of survival of the 13-month-old Vajpayee government during the confidence motion in the Lok Sabha tomorrow appeared bright when 11 members of the Lok Sabha from the Indian National Lok Dal, DMK and an independent formally announced their support to the beleaguered ruling coalition.

Congress to stake claim
Braving a bad day today, Congress president Sonia Gandhi and ADMK chief J. Jayalalitha, the two principal players in the efforts to topple the A.B. Vajpayee government, began damage control measures by meeting top politicians and trying to slow the momentum which had swung the BJP's way during the day.
