Get cracking on Dwarka, LG orders civic agencies

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NEW DELHI, April 16: Lieutenant Governor Vijai Kapoor has given orders for immediate provision of water, power, sewage system and roads in Dwarka to make it habitable.

At a high-level meeting today, Kapoor said all requisite services have to be made operational to help people move into the subcity, including educational institutions, police posts, fire stations etc.

The Delhi Vidyut Board has been asked to complete the construction of 11 KV sub-stations and provide power connections to the group housing societies before the end of next month. The Public Works Department (PWD) has been instructed to complete the construction of internal roads of 45- and 60-metres width.

The PWD has also been asked to expedite construction for two of the three police stations and the four sites identified for construction of fire-stations.

The participants called for 10 to 12 schools to be constructed at the earliest and the Delhi Development Authority has been asked to handover sites meant for government schools to Directorate of Education immediately.

Referring to the areas earmarked for 500-bed hospitals, dispensaries, colleges and post offices, the LG said the concerned agencies should immediately begin construction.

Also additional land would be available to group housing societies and DDA would undertake an extensive tree plantation on road-sides.
