SPG in command

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE  
MUMBAI, APRIL 16: Shivaji Park Gymkhana (SPG) extended their dominance over Middle Income Group (MiG) Cricket Club on the second day of the Comrade Shield final at the latter's ground today.

Resuming at their overnight score of 298-3, SPG went on to amass 457, inclusive of 10 penalty runs. Though Amit Pagnis (134: 236b, 17x4) and Ojas Mehta (50: 128b, 5x1, 1x6) departed early but not before they had added 110 runs for the fourth wicket.

Sanjay Bangar (40: 84b, 4x4) and Prashant Sawant (49 not out: 73b, 4x4, 1x6) were the principal contributors which saw SPG score attain respectability.

Divakar Shetty was rewarded for his perseverance picking up five wickets for 119 runs.

In reply, MiG had crawled to 77-1 in 40 overs when stumps were drawn for the day. Opener Sandesh Paralkar (45: 115b, 4x4) and left-hander Amit Dhulap (13) were holding fort after Manish Bangera (16) had departed early.
