Parneeta wins trophy

CHANDIGARH, April, 16: Parneeta Garewal had a comfortable victory over her nearest rival Shruti Khanna, as she won the 7th Chandigarh Open Spice ladies golf championship, which concluded at the Chandigarh Golf Club here today.

Parneeta played seven over par 79, taking her three day total to 223. Shruti, who played eight over today, finished six stroke behind the leader.

Ayesha Kapur, who needed four over today, to meet the criteria laid down to qualifying for the Asia-Pacific Junior meet, played best card of the day. In a creditable round, she played par on the last to bring in a card of 76.

The Grewal Salver, best nett prize was won by Guneet Reikhy. Three strokes behind Reikhy was Ayesha Kapur, who took the second spot.

The Chandigarh ladies Challenge, for handicap 0-18, was won by Mayali Talwar, who had a total of 220. Irina Brar finished second at 224.

The Bawa Gill Trophy, gross prize for handicap 19-29 was won by Binny Bath.

Sheena Sekhon was runners-up. However, the Rani Jagdish Kaur Cup, nett prize was won by Deepu Dhanoa. Veenu Sandhu was the Runner Up.

Seventy-year-old, Darshi Narang, who was the oldest competitor for the tournament won the best gross for the Meters and Instruments Trophy. Preet Dhillon, won the best nett prize in the same category. Gurbrinder Johl, won the Lady Governer's Cup for senior golfers, with a total of 280. Leading for three days, she beat Taran Simran Singh, who finished fourth, by four strokes. Irina Brar, won the best gross juniors and Guneet Reikhy won the best nett juniors. In the sub-junior category, the best gross was won by Mayali Talwar and Shruti Reddy won the best nett.
