Man survives 24 hrs under rubble

AGENCE FRANCE PRESSE
DUBAI, APRIL 18: An Asian construction worker was rescued alive after being trapped for 24 hours when a building collapsed in Dubai on Sunday. The man fell under a pile of iron bars and into wet cement on Friday evening, the Khaleej Times said quoting civil defence officials.

``His arm was stuck between iron bars and freshly-laid concrete which started to dry,'' one official said.

Rescuers finally extracted him Saturday evening.

An inquiry was launched into the cause of the building collapse.
