MUMBAI, April 18: A chartered tourist Bahrain-bound flight which originated from Goa was diverted to Chhatrapati Shivaji airport this afternoon after a bomb scare onboard.Around 3.15 pm, an A-300 flight of Monarch Air, a London-based air company, carrying 354 passengers and 12 crew members landed at the CS International Airport amidst tight bandobast and was led to the bay area of the airport. The flight made an unscheduled landing when the flight commander found a plastic packet lying in the aisle area of the aircraft. When passengers were questioned nobody claimed the packet to be theirs. After the flight landed in Mumbai, the passengers and crew members vacated the flight and a team of officers from the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) entered the flight and seized the packet.
Although police officers from the central police control room and the north-eastern control room did not disclose the content of the packet, a senior police officer said the packet contained a severed penis. Aftera thorough search of the flight for over four hours by the BDDS explosive experts and sniffer dogs, the police team allowed the flight to continue its journey to Bahrain.
