Decomposed body found in Manimajra

CHANDIGARH, April 22: A decomposed body of an unidentified man, apparently in his 40s, was found in Manimajra here this morning. The body was found on the ground opposite Dhillon Cinema and the police were informed on telephone at around 10 a. m. The body, apparently of a labourer, appeared to have been eaten at a few places. Police said that the man may have died three days ago in an accident after which his body was dumped. They, however, did not rule out the possibility of murder. The reason for the death would be known only after the postmortem, the police added. The body has been taken to Sector 16 General Hospital.

Youth crushed under train
A 20-year-old man was crushed under a train near Manimajra here in the early hours on Thursday. The deceased has been identified as Sanjiv Kumar Dogra, employed as a peon in a local private firm. According to Government Railway Police (GRP) sources, he might have committed suicide.

A passenger train driver saw the dismembered body lying on the track and informed the station master who communicated the same to the GRP post. A severed leg was found lying near the track.

They added that he might have been crushed under the Jodhpur-Kalka train which passes around 7 a.m.

Police sources said according to his father, who also reached the spot, after being misled by some of his friends, the deceased had started living on his own. His father works as a peon with a news agency here.

Dogra hailed from Kangra district in Himachal Pradesh and was residing in Buterla village here. The body has been sent for post mortem at the Kalka Civil Hospital. The GRP is investigating the matter.
