Sorabjee objects to questioning President's decisions

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
Chennai, April 24: Attorney General Soli R Sorabjee today disapproved of attempts to attribute motives to any decision taken by President K R Narayanan to resolve the political imbroglio.

Talking to reporters at the Madras High Court, he said he had no doubt that the final decision by Narayanan would take into account the paramount interest of the country.

Stating that the country had reached a critical juncture in its history and that the President had a very delicate task to perform, Sorabjee said that decisions by Narayanan would have its repercussions on the future course of the country. Replying to a question on the prospects of a mid-term poll, he said it looked inevitable.

Sorabjee said he was one among the many who had been called by the President to discuss the political situation .
