By planting trees, NGO to protest against Rokde's transfer

MUMBAI, APRIL 24: Citizens forum protesting against Deputy Municipal Commissioner Chandrashekhar Rokde's transfer from Zone III in March will be planting 1,000 neem trees all over the city from Sunday.

`I Clean Mumbai', a city-based organisation which has planned this unique form of protest will start the tree plantation at 10 am at J B Nagar Andheri (E).

Former DMC G R Khairnar will be joining the protestors by inaugurating the drive said Manmohan Mehta, project director of `I Clean Mumbai'.

The organisation along with Jan Jagran Sangh, yet another NGO which has been organising public support against Rokde's transfer is still continuing with its blood donation drive. Further, a public interest litigation filed by Jan Jagruti Manch against Rokde's transfer will come up for hearing before Justice Y K Sabharwal and Justice B N Srikrishna in the High Court on Monday.
