Three share lead in Maharashtra selection chess

MUMBAI, APRIL 24: Amar Kamat defeated Saurabh Barve to lead jointly with 3 points each, along with Eesha and Gaurav Hingne of Navi Mumbai, Arjun Tiwari of Aurangabad and Tejas Dangi of Pune in the Maharashtra State Selection chess tournament at the Dombivli Gymkhana, Dombivli (East).

In the girls under-14 category, Shraddha Samani (Kolhapur), Amruta Mokal (Pune) and Priyanka Kshatriya (Nashik) are leading jointly with 2 points each at the end of the second-round.

In the girls under-12 section Rucha Karwade, won both her rounds to lead the field with Niharika Thakkar, Trichi Chawla, Tanvi Thakur, Vaishali Kulkarni, Mrudula Nambiar (all Mumbai) and Kruttika Nadig and Soumya Swaminathan (both Pune).

In the boys under-12 section, Gurupreet Singh Maras (Nag), Yogesh Mapari (Aur), Mihir Naniwadekar and Soumitra Mujumdar (Pun), Rishav Kapur, Omkar Kulkarni (Tha) and Nikhil Kamat (Mum) along with 7 others jointly lead with 3 points each at the end of the third round.

BSE enter final: Bombay StockExchange (BSE) beat JB Boda & Co by 70 runs in the semi-final of the 5th Kotak Mahindra Invitational cricket tournament at the Parsi Gymkhana, today.

Brief scores: BSE 277-4 in 40 overs (Dilip Agarwal 81, Pranav Shah 68, Nimesh Soni 57 n.o.) bt JB Boda & Co 207 all out in 34.5 overs (C Keni 40, Sharad Uchill 40; Dilip Agarwal 3-17, Dharmesh Mehta 3-52).

Easy for Lyndon: Lyndon Braganza (60) scored a facile 113-72, 96-83 win over MA Khan (50) in the first-round of the Sushil R Ruia Cup snooker tournament, sponsored by Selvel and Consultant, at the Matharpacady Club, Mazgaon, today.
