`Symb Air-99' from May 5

PUNE, APRIL 25: Air Chief Marshal A Y Tipnis will inaugurate `Symb Air-99', a two day exposition cum seminar on `Indigenisation' slated to be held from May 5 at R & D Establishment (Engineers), Dighi.The exposition which marks a symbiosis between Air Force and industry has been jointly organised by the Headquarters Maintenance Command, Indian Air Force and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) (Western Region) is being held with the objective of developing a strong indigenous vendor base for high quality aircraft and aviation spares. Pune is the fourth city where the exposition is being held after Chandigarh, Nashik and Bangalore. Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Air Commodore T Ramanujam who heads No 9 Base Repair Depot revealed that the Indian Air Force sources out Rs 2,000 crore worth spare parts every year.
