Lucknow, April 25: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Kalyan Singh today claimed that there was no threat to his government in the wake of the fall of Atal Behari Vajpayee Government at the Centre.``The (UP) Government is stable and will complete its term,'' the Chief Minister said while addressing a rally at the historic Begum Hazrat Mahal Park here.
Urging the people not to pay heed to the `misleading media reports' Singh said his government has full support of all the party legislators and allies.Stating that the government was committed to the development of the state, the Chief Minister said the attempts being made to destabilise the government would not succeed.
Meanwhile, in a bid to contain the growing dissidence, Chief Minister Kalyan Singh has launched a massive damage control exercise, which experts feel is a ``desperate effort to save his chair''.
The CM held lengthy discussions with the dissidents including Urban Development Minister Lalji Tandon and PWD Minister Kalraj Misra. However, KalyanSingh's efforts to meet the dissident MLAs on a `one to one' basis, met with little success as the latter flatly refused to meet him individually to sort out their differences.
After much efforts by the CM, two of the dissidents S S Dung and Neeraj Chaturvedi, both MLAs, met the former at his residence on April 19.The meeting remained `uproductive' as they made it clear that `further negotiations could be held only with the party's Central leadership'.
