Eesha, Yogesh wrest lead

MUMBAI, APRIL 25: Top seed Eesha Karavade (Pune), in the boys under-14 section, and Yogesh Mapari (Aurangabad), in the boys under-12 category, are leading with 4.5 points each out of 5 rounds in the Maharashtra State Selection chess championship organised by Kulkarni's Chess Group and Euwe Chess Academy and conducted by the Bombay Chess Association at the Dombivli Gymkhana, today.

Eesha outwitted Gaurav Hingne (Navi Mumbai) while Yogesh defeated Saket Mundhada (Nagpur).

In the girls section, Shraddha Samani (Kolhapur) leads with four points from as many matches in the under-14 category, while Kruttika Nadig (Pune) leads the under-12 field also with four points out of four rounds. Shradda defeated Pannaga Magal (Pune) while Kruttika overcame Rucha Karavade (Pune). In the boys under-14 category, top seed Eesha, with white pieces, played the Trompovsky Variation (d4 Nf6, 2 Bg5) against Gaurav.
