Pune, April 25: After increasing the number of state ranking tourneys to a record high and taking tennis to the lesser known city's of Maharashtra, the state tennis governing body -- Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association has now embarked upon an unique coaching camp exclusively for the promising boys and girls from district areas, excluding Pune and Mumbai.In their attempt to promote the game at the grass roots level, the first such MSLTA organise 11-days coaching camp with selected 24 boys and girls from the districts will commence at the Deccan Gymkhana courts from April 26 to May 6.
Speaking to newspersons here, MSLTA treasurer Sharad Kannamwar informed that these students will be coached by former Davis Cupper and Indian Federation team coach Nandan Bal. Anand Tulpule, coordinator of the camp informed that the players who have had significant performance in the state level tourneys in the last year have been selected for the camp along with players from Sangli, Nasik, Kolhapur, Nashik, Yeola andKhamgaon.
