Kant to open TU meet

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
VADODARA, April 27: Vice-President Krishna Kant will inaugurate the International Conference of the World Federation of Trade Unions to be held on November 17 in New Delhi. To be organised by the All India Trade Union Congress, this is the first ever world summit of labour in the country. Trade union leaders from more than 100 countries are expected to participate in the five-day conference.

The growing unemployment world over, attack on the social benefits and other problems of the working class including the economic blockade imposed on certain countries would form the agenda of the summit.

Holding of this summit in India assumes importance in the wake of economic liberalisation that has not only reduced employment avenues but also created insecurity of service among workers by introducing contingent employment system thus making it easier for the employers to ``hire and fire''. The summit will oppose these policies derogatory to labour.
