Industrial Training Institute's first meet

CHANDIGARH, May 4: The steering Committee and Institute Management Committee of Industrial Training Institute, Sector 28, held its first meeting here today. The Institute has been chosen for Rs 10 crore pilot project to modernise teaching, training and infrastructure.

The meeting, chaired by Home-cum-Education Secretary Anuradha Gupta, approved the pilot project's guidelines framed by the Director General, Employment and Training. The recommendations included the optimum utilisation of the available equipment, modalities of generating revenue. Director Technical Education S.K. Aggarwal pointed out the problem of affiliation of the recently introduced courses with National Council of Vocational Training.

The meeting was attended by the representatives of various regional industries including the CII, which was represented by Madhu Pillai and I.S. Chadda. The next meeting of the Institute Management Committee will be held on May 5 for further plan of action.

Circus trip
The District Council for Children's Welfare today arranged a trip to the circus for as many as 178 handicapped children drawn from various institutes of this township.

As per a statement issued the circus management not only waived entry tickets for the children, but also served them complimentary soft drinks.

About 70 children from the local Bal Niketan had been shown the circus yesterday, while a trip for about 100 children from the Atal Behari Vajpayee Colony near Mansa Devi is scheduled for tomorrow.
