Medical students not to receive CET hall tickets by post

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NASHIK, May 7: Students taking the Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission to medical courses in the state will not receive their hall tickets by post as announced earlier. Instead, they will have to collect them from government medical colleges or the district collectorate from May 16 to 19.

Vice-Chancellor of the Maharashtra University of Health Sciencs (MUHS), which will conduct the CET on May 23, Dr D G Dongaonkar, announced today that the decision has been taken since a large number of students had not jotted down their addresses properly in the CET application form. They will therefore have to collect their hall tickets either from the district from which they have taken their Higher Secondary Certificate examination.

Following are the centres: Government Dental College Mumbai-1 (for candidates from Mumbai Suburban district); Grant Medical College, Byculla (for Mumbai City); Rajiv Gandhi Medical College, Kalwa (Thane district); Collector's Office, Alibag (Raigad); B J Medical College (Pune);Vaishampayan Memorial Government Dental College (Solapur); Government Medical College, Miraj (Sangli); District Collectorates of Ahmednagar, Satara, Kolhapur, Sindhudurg and Ratnagiri; Bhausaheb Hirey Medical College, Chakkar Bardi (Dhule); District Collectorates of Nashik, Jalgaon and Nandurbar; Government Medical College (Nagpur); Government Medical College (Yavatmal); District Collectorates of Bhandara, Gadchiroli, Chandrapur, Wardha, Amravati, Akola, Washim and Buldhana; Government Medical College (Aurangabad); Government Medical College (Nanded); District Collectorates of Beed, Latur, Osmanabad, Parbhani and Jalna districts.

Hall tickets will be issued at these centres between May 16 and 19 between 10 am and 5 pm against receipt-cum-identity card. About 38,579 students have qualified for the CET, 1999. The test will be conducted with assistance from the Department of Medical Education, Government of Maharashtra, and the district collectorates.
