DAV College principal invigilates exams

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CHANDIGARH, May 7: Candidates for the BA I Geography and Sociology examinations of the Panjab University who arrived at their exam centre at DAV College for Boys here were taken by surprise. College principal R. C. Jeevan had decided to perform invigilation duty "to check copying."

Jeevan said he had ordered that no outsiders be put on exam duty without informing him. "There are some people who have made a habit of exam duties," he said. "Whenever there is a shortage of teachers, these people appear from nowhere and are assigned duties. Their credentials are not known and they facilitate cheating. Since there was a shortage of teachers I asked the superintendent to appoint me an invigilator." He said: "I want to deter these professionals from outside."
