Fire in jhuggis behind PCL

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE  
SAS NAGAR, May 7: A minor fire broke out in the jhuggis behind Punjab Communications Limited (PCL) in Phase 8 of the Industrial Area at 1 p.m. today. According to fire officials, two of the jhuggis were burnt down to ashes. The fire was brought under control within half an hour. Two fire tenders were pressed into service. The cause of the fire is still not known.

Guru Granth Sahib bir burnt
Dera Bassi: The local police have registered a case against a Zirakpur resident on the charge of his alleged disrespect to Guru Granth Sahib. A 28-year-old youth, Chhattarpal Singh, of Dasmesh village turned furious following a scuffle with his father late last night and set two birs of Guru Granth Sahib on fire in his house. A case has been registered at Dera Bassi police station and investigations are on. No arrest has been made so far.
