Symbolic, abstract play of shades

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CHANDIGARH, May 7: The Alliance Francaise Art Gallery is emerging as the latest hub of artistic activity as its director, Gilles Guey, does not want to leave the walls bare. So, immediately after Harpreet Singh's show, the gallery hosted Rosy Khosla's exhibition this evening.

Rosy, a product of the Apeejay College in Jallandhar, is a comparatively new entrant to the city scene. But her paintings, a mix of symbolic abstraction and strong comment, are interesting enough. She has used texture on hard board, sometimes pastels too. And in her portrayal of women, the metaphors emerge well through the play of shades. She loves to comment on whatever strikes her, as in the frame on Gandhari or in the view of St Valentine's day in the city. If she overcomes the repetitiveness that accompanies some of her frames, she can really do better.
