SHO directed to register complaint of assaulted lawyer

CHANDIGARH, May 7: Taking up the private complaint filed by advocate Yashpal Singla here on May 5, UT Chief Judicial Magistrate Sant Parkash today directed SHO, police station, Central to register a case as made out in the complaint and hold investigation.

In the complaint filed against Surinder Singh and his sister Darshan Kaur under Sections 307, 380, 342 and 357 IPC, Singla had requested the Magistrate to summon the alleged accused and punish them for offences committed by them.

He had stated that on the said date, he had gone to the house of his client Vanita Agarwal to get some documents. Even as he was waiting for her, the alleged accused dragged him into a room and started assaulting him.

It was further alleged that the police, despite being given all details, did not register the case for offfences committed by the accused.
