Gang of 6 inter-state car thieves held in east district

NEW DELHI, May 7: With the arrest of six persoins, the east district police claim to have busted a gang of auto thieves. The persons have been identified as Rafi (26), Jodha (28), Brij Bhan (28), Dharambir (26), Shamhuddin (27) and Rajinder Singh (26). Their arrests led to the recovery of seven Maruti cars and a scooter and police have apparently solved nine cases of motor vehicle thefts. According to the police the accused were active in the areas of east, west and New Delhi districts.The district police started collecting details on the activities of auto thieves and car-jackers after complaintst in the Kalyanpuri sub-division. First, Rafi was arrested from Kalyanpuri. On sustained interrogation, Rafi confessed to his involvement in nine cases of motor vehicle theft that was reported from Preet Vihar, Shakarpur, Anand Vihar, Kalyanpuri, Parliament Street, Connaught Place, and Vikaspuri.
