India's warm-up match washed out
Heavy downpour washed out the World Cup warm-up match between India and English county champions Leistershire after India made 219 for seven in their allotted 50 overs in Leicester today. India recovered after the early loss of star opening pair Sachin Tendulkar and Saurav Ganguly to post a respectable total with Rahul Dravid (60), skipper Mohd Azharuddin's fluent 43 and Ajay Jadeja's unbeaten 54 chipping in with useful runs. Unseeded Russian Anna Nefedova and fourth-seeded Shruti Dhawan today set up a title clash in the 5,000-dollar ITF Women's Tennis Circuit third leg registering contrasting wins. Nefedova upset third-seeded Indian girl Rushmi Chakravarthi 2-6, 6-2, 6-4. In the other semifinal, Bangalore leg winner Shruti struggled past a fighting Archana Venkataraman to win 1-6, 6-2, 6-1.
