ISLAMABAD: Pakistani authorities have disbanded nearly 2,000 NGOs, frozen their bank accounts and assets and threatened to take action against others, including the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan. The Punjab government, headed by Premier Nawaz Sharif's brother Shahbaz Sharif, said this was done as the NGOs were involved in "undesirable activities".
