Police can spread AIDS awareness

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
VADODARA, May 10: Additional Commissioner of Police M K Tandon said on Monday that the police could play an important role in supporting non-governmental organisations working to spread AIDS awareness among sex-workers.

Delivering a lecture after inaugurating a ``Workshop on HIV/AIDS for Police Personnel'' organised by the Baroda Citizens' Council in collaboration with the Gujarat State AIDS Control Society, he candidly said that sex-workers needed police support and a humanitarian approach because it was police personnel who frequently came in contact with them.

Additional director of State AIDS Control Society D M Saxena also spoke.
