Crime Watch -- Vadodara

Burns death
Dipika Sanjay Sawariwala (31), a resident of Diwalibaug Society, Adajan, died on Sunday morning in the Nukul Surgical Hospital, where she had been admitted with severe burn injuries a few hours earlier. According to the police, Dipika was cleaning the floor when her sari caught fire from a gas stove flame. The Rander police have registered a case under section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

One dead
Shankarrao Phalge (50), from Gordhannagar, Limbayat, died early on Sunday morning in the new Civil hospital, where he was admitted with severe head injuries sustained when the autorickshaw in which he was travelling overturned near Kinnary Cinema on Saturday night. The autorickshaw (GJ 5 T 8300) was being driven by his son Ganesh. Ganesh's aunt, who was also in the rickshaw, sustained minor injuries. The police have registered a case under sections of the IPC and MVA.

Brawl
The police have registered a case of rioting and use of dangerous weapons against two persons who attacked a man and his wife with swords after an argument late on Saturday night. Abdul Rehman Shaikh, a resident of Rajivnagar slum, Rander, told the police that Firoz Amdawadi and Jilani Bandwala, both residents of Rajivnagar slum, hit him on the hands and feet with a hockey stick and his wife with a sword on he left palm. Both then fled the scene. The Rander police are investigating further.

Major theft
Sarees worth Rs 20 lakhs were reportedly stolen from a Ring Road market godown during the night. Manish Mulraj Meghani, owner of godown no 203, Anupam Market Ring Road, told the Salabatpura police in the afternoon that 10,000 printed sarees were stolen from his godown between 10 pm on Saturday night and 11 am on Monday. Meghani told the police that he had not opened the godown on Sunday, the market being closed. He added that the godown was either opened with a set of duplicate keys or the locks were cut.
