Myanmar ails junior golfers

CHANDIGARH, May 10: The Indian contingent of juniors and sub-juniors that was in Myanmar for the recently concluded Asia-Pacific Juniors have returned with many ailments. Local golfer, Irina Brar is the only youngster from the girls team who made it to the final round. Her best score for the the three day tournament was a 4 over par, 76, that added to an eight over and nine over for the other two days.

Irina says, ''I finished fourth Runners Up in the junior category, and was the only 15 year old among the others who were all 17 years old. but I was not intimidated and played quite well.''

Guneet Reikhy, the second member on the team, returned home without participating in the event at all. Fever that plagued nearly all the team members, pulled her down and she returned without playing.

Ayesha Kapur, Delhi junior and the third member of this team played the second round with fever and had to withdraw from the final round. She said, ``my legs were shaking as i had very high fever and could not play the next day.''

Irina, the only one who successfully completed the event, has now got fever after returning to Chandigarh and will also be out of action for a while while.

Kho-kho probables
The Chandigarh Kho-Kho Association, has selected thirty-six probables including 18 in the girls section for a coaching camp in the junior section for the forthcoming national meet to be held at Aurangabad from May 26 to 30.The camp will begin tomorrow and will continue till May 24.

The boys camp will be held at the Sector 42 Sports Complex. Coaching Centre, Sector 30 will be venue for the girls camp.

Boys: Chanderpal, Palwinder Singh, Pavittar Singh, Sukhwinder Singh, Prabhjeet Singh, Napinderjit Singh, Vikramjeet Singh, Kirandeep Singh, Jaswinder Singh, Ashwani, Rakesh, Santosh Kumar, Rajinder Kumar, Vijay Bhan, Avtar Singh, Harjeet Singh, Sukhwinder Singh and Rajesh Kumar.
Girls: Nandani, Alka, Priya, Maninder Kaur, Jaswinder Kaur, Rakhhi, Kiran, Indira, Sunita, Laxmi, Aarti, Nisha, Nisha, Ruchi, Poonam, Rajni, Shanti and Aman Deepika.
