Rs 800 cr for Thane ring-rail project -- Jethmalanai

MUMBAI, May 14: Union Minister for Urban Developement Ram Jethmalani announced on Thursday that he will sanction Rs 800 crore for the ring-rail project proposed for Thane and stated that a convention centre at Bandra-Kurla complex will be constructed as a joint venture between the government and HUDCO soon.

The union minister urged the Maharashtra government to scrap ULCA. He made these announcement at a function where he released a comprehensive guide for the housing industry titled `Reference Book & yellow Pages:1999-2000' published by Maharshtra Chamber of Housing Industry(MCHI), a representative body of 450 developers and builders. The minister also stated that Centre would make funds available for construction of a truck terminal in Thane city soon. He further promised that the Centre would take a decision for retrieving 4000 acres of salt pan land along the Eastern Express Highway.
