Brother-in-law held for man's murder

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NEW DELHI, May 14: One person has been arrested by the Delhi police for a murder in Sriniwaspuri in south district on the night of May 16.

The police say the body of a man was found near a railway line in Sriniwaspuri on May 17. Investigators later found that Krishan Kanhaiya Saxena (32) was going home after visiting his mother-in-law, who had been admitted in a Lajpat Nagar hospital.

Post-mortem reports revealed that Saxena had first been strangled and then run over several times by a vehicle. Despite extensive efforts, however, south district officials were not able to make a breakthrough and the case was transferred to the district crime cell.

They found contradictions in the statements of some members of the family. The victim's brother-in-law Deepu was present in hospital where Saxena was last seen alive. Saxena and his wife reportedly had an unhappy marriage as a consequence of which Deepu too was not on good terms with Saxena. Deepu finally admitted that he had killed Saxena along with two of his friends -- Mukesh and Vikas. He also disclosed that the conspiracy was hatched by all members of the family, including Saxena's wife.

Deepu said he and his friends had offered Saxena a lift. He was then reportedly strangled and the body dumped near the railway line.
