PUNE, May 14: Probably for the first time in its history, the municipal corporation on Wednesday forcibly took possession of a plot of 25,500 square feet in Ghorpade peth, which has been reserved for primary school.The municipal corporation had issued notice to the land owner one Bhajekar to vacate the land by sending notice under section 89 and 90 of Maharashtra Regional Town Planning Act in December 1997.
Kakade Transport, a tenant, had gone to the court challenging the PMC decision. The municipal and district courts dismissed his plea saying Kakade Transport could file an appeal in high court and obtain a stay order till April 27 this year. The tenant failed to obtain the stay order within the stipulated time. The civic squad then swung into action.
