NEW DELHI, May 14: The BJP and its allies are meeting here tomorrow to discuss the political situation prevailing in the country. The Coordination Committee meeting, the date for which had been set last month, has however lost much of its importance because of the Central Election Commission's decision to hold the Lok Sabha polls in September-October this year.
The BJP and its allies were initially scheduled to discuss the draft national agenda being prepared by a committee comprising Defence Minister George Fernandes and External Affairs Minister Jaswant Singh. But with the elections still a long way off, the alliance partners are likely to take the opportunity to use it as a show of strength and unity.
``The allies will of course offer their suggestions for the national agenda, but nothing concrete is likely to emerge,'' a senior leader remarked.
The Coordination Committee is, instead, likely to concentrate its attention on discussing the prevailing political situation. ``The alliance partners willgive their inputs from their respective states,'' the leader said.
The meeting, to be chaired by Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee, will be held at his official residence.
